A LIFE ROOTED IN COMMUNITY.

ABOUT VANESSA

Since 2013, Kingston has been our home where my husband and I are raising our two boys, building community, and investing in a city we care deeply about.

For more than twenty years, I have worked across municipal government, healthcare, education, mental health, nonprofit organizations, business, and faith communities in Ontario. Throughout my career, I have built a reputation for bringing people together to solve complex challenges, strengthen organizations, and move good ideas into action.

PUBLIC SERVICE

I have had the privilege of supporting initiatives that celebrate the people, cultures, and stories that make Kingston a vibrant community. From building an anti-hate tool kit, to Welcome to Kingston Day, to partnerships that promote learning, belonging, and community connection, I have always believed that strong communities are built through relationships.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

As an entrepreneur with an MBA, I founded Selah Counselling & Consulting where we support individuals and organizations through therapeutic care, wellness initiatives, and crisis response.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Most recently, I served in a leadership role with the City of Kingston, working alongside residents, community organizations, elected officials, and staff to strengthen community connection and advance initiatives that help people feel valued, supported, and included.

BEYOND THE TITLE

I am also a woman of faith and someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people from all backgrounds.

My friends range in age from their 20s to their 80s, which means conversations can quickly shift from youth engagement and housing affordability to grandkids, gardening, and pickleball (My friend John has made it clear that his support may depend on my position regarding additional pickleball courts. Negotiations are ongoing).

WHY I AM RUNNING

I am running for Mayor because I believe Kingston's next chapter requires collaborative leadership, responsible growth, and a commitment to ensuring every resident has the opportunity to thrive. What I have learned through public service, leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement is simple: strong cities are built by people.

By neighbours who care, businesses that invest, community partners who are engaged, and residents who believe their community can always be better. That belief continues to guide me today. Because a city is more than what we build. It's who we build for.
